Nasturtiums growing on a Fence
This photograph of Nasturtiums growing up a fence was taken in Cheshire Fields Allotments which are in Walthamstow, London E17. It's not my allotment plot but a friends and the pictures were made over a period of 3 years. People who work plots there have a love for growing produce, their own produce and in good soils fed by regular deliveries of horse manure from the Horse Riding School in the Leabridge Road.

Most plots also have various flowering plants which come into bloom at different times of the year so there is always colour around and usually with bees buzzing and feeding on the flowers.

I think another quality and passion allotment people have is their ability to use pretty much anything and recycle it to make greenhouses or sheds, fruit cages and compost bins. I'm a pretty good compost bin maker now and we recently discovered a scaffolders yard just down the road who are always trying to dispose of worn out scaffolding boards.
